This term the children in Year 3 have been exploring the topic of Victorian mining and as part of our learning, we enjoyed a trip to the National Coal Mining Museum. During the visit we were able to experience what modern mines were like, as well as exploring the horrific conditions that miners experienced in the Victorian era. One of the highlights of the visit was meeting some of the horses and finding out their roles down the pit.
