Simpson’s Lane Academy in Knottingley is celebrating a full Outstanding rating from Ofsted following a June 2025 inspection, recognising its exceptional culture, academic strength and care for pupils.

Inspectors praised the school’s transformation under Head of Academy Lee Colley and Delta Academies Trust, noting: “Simpson’s Lane Academy is full of happy, polite and considerate pupils who thrive in the remarkable environment that leaders have crafted over time.”

A rich, well-structured curriculum, expert teaching and a strong reading culture support pupils from Early Years onward. Inspectors highlighted the “tangible” love of reading and the confident, articulate way pupils engage with learning.

Personal development was described as “astonishing,” with a wide range of opportunities building life skills and raising aspirations. Attendance has improved, SEND support is strong, and behaviour expectations are high across the school.

As Ofsted put it: “Pupils’ love of learning and respect for one another radiate throughout the school.”
