    Thank you to everyone who came to the Christmas Fayre and supported us.

    We hope you all enjoyed it and the children enjoyed seeing Santa!

    Most of the raffle prizes have been claimed, the winning numbers are displayed on posters around school and prizes can be claimed from the school office.

  • Oral Health Promotion

    Nursery parents should have received a letter from Nursery with regards to your child having flouride applied to their teeth.

    Can we just ask that all slips are returned to school by Friday 12th December as the application is taking place on Monday 15th December.


  • Healthier Packed Lunches

    Jane has been back in school today and met with our School Council. They discussed the different foods that we might have in our packed lunches and tried to find some healthy alternatives. Our councillors had some great ideas about how they would like to improve our lunchtimes.


    In the New Year Jane will be holding a session for parent's and will be working with all pupils in school. More information to follow.

  • Money Raised for Children In Need

    Staff and children came to school wearing spots last friday for Children in Need.

    We raised £146.71 for the cause. Thank you for all your support!

    In response to feedback from many parents, postal workers, delivery drivers, visitors and other stakeholders, regarding the location of our academy entrance/office, we would like to inform you as from Monday 17th November, our remodeled main office will be situated in its previous location (near the car park).

    Please note, that the current office will not be supervised so could you please ensure that the new entrance to the used from Monday morning.



  • Therapeutic Crisis Intervention

    The Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Programme is a 6 week parenting course

    The aim of the group is to give parents and carers strategies to cope with the ever changing challenges of bringing up children and adolescents.


    The main objectives that are taught include:

    • How to prevent and de-esculate a potential crisis situation with children.
    • How to safely and therapeutically manage children's behaviour.
    • How to work with children to help improve their coping strategies.

  • Money Raised for Macmillan

    A big thankyou to everyone who came to our Macmillan coffee morning and especially to all those who baked some lovely cakes and buns!

    We raised in total £231 for a really worthy cause!

    The total collected so far from all the coffee mornings held in the country is £10.6 million pounds





  • Strike Postponed

    We have been informed that Unison have posponed their planned strike action on Tuesday 14th October. This means the academy will now be open to all pupils and school photographs will go ahead on this day as planned.

  • Years 1 & 2 Visit to Yorkshire Wildlife Park

    Last Friday 3rd October our Year 1 and 2 classes went on a trip to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster. This was a big hit with both chidren and staff and a great time was had by everyone.

    All the children were very well behaved and represented Simpson's Lane Academy perfectly.




  • Key Stage 1 Sports Day!

    Our Sports Day held in September was a great sucess. All the children did really well and we appreciate the time that parents took to come and support their children!

  • Golden Ticket Award

    18th September 2014

    Any children achieveing 100% attendance in one week are awarded a "Golden Ticket". This ticket is then entered into a prize draw and each week the winner receives a £20 Morrisons voucher!

    Attendance is very important to us and we believe it deserves a reward!!

    It is vital that we have emergency contact numbers for all parents or a family member available in an emergency. There has been a lot of sickness this week at school unfortunately which has highlighted the need for these details.

    Simpsons Lane Academy would like to warmly welcome all children and staff back to school!

    We hope you all had a lovely summer holiday, it's been great to see all the children back in school and to hear their tales from the summer!

  • Dinner Money Reminder

    Just a reminder that as per the letter sent home in July, dinner money for Key Stage 2 pupils will increase from 1st September to £2.00 per day so £10 per week, this is payable at the start of every week in a named envelope passed to your child's teacher or classroom assistant.

    All Key Stage 1 pupils are entitled to free school meals from September.

  • Simpsons Lane Meets The Apprentice!

    Towards the end of the summer term children at Simpsons Lane Academy were given the chance to become young business men and women!

    Classes listened to a talk from staff from a local bank, and were given an insight to how the financial industry worked!

    Classes were then given and sum of money and a week to buy, make and use their initiative to find ways to make a profit!

    They all worked really hard to market their ideas and posters and adverts were placed around school advertising their products.

    A regular visitor to Simpsons Lane Academy is Sam Safari!

    Founded in 2002 by Helen Duke (now Helen Wild!), the Sam Safaris team has over 20 years combined experience giving educational talks & children's parties all over Yorkshire.

    Sam Safaris offers the chance for schools & clubs to get up close & personal with a variety of rare & exotic insects, mammals, reptiles, molluscs & amphibians from around the world.

    Children of all ages will find education can be fun.






  • Foundation Stage Sports Day

    The Foundation Stage Sports Day was a big success and we would like to thank everybody who came to support the Nursery and Reception children. Despite the very hot weather, the children ran as fast as they could and took part in every race planned. Even the parents joined in with the final Parent Race.

    What a lovely end to a fantastic year!

  • De Lacy Holiday Programme For Year 6 Leavers

    Year 6 pupils who will be starting at De Lacy Academy in September have been given a 'De Lacy Holiday Programme booklet'  for them to take home and discuss with parents/guardians.  Any pupils wishing to attend on the sessions must complete the booking form. (Pupils on FSMs are able to book on the activities for free).

    It would be a great opportunity for pupils to come along so they can get a chance to meet staff and meet each other before September.
