    As you are aware, we have polling day at Simpson's Lane on Thursday 5th May. As SATs are taking place in the coming weeks, we are remaining open for Years 2 and 6 only. The children will working in small groups with a teacher to give them extra support in preperation.

    28 children from Year 5/6 spent this week at Crowden Outdoor Education in Derbyshire.  We had a fantastic week taking part in a range of outdoor activities and the sun even shone!  The children had the opportunity to try lots of new things and it was great to see them having so much fun!

  • 2016 Pontefract Cycling Festival

    Returning for the third year the 2016 Ponte Cycle Fest is bigger than ever with more attractions to suit the whole family. A 5k running race and a new veterans cycling race and schools races are added to the mens and womens events on the day. Our free to attend family ride on fully closed roads makes a return by popular demand.

    On Monday 1st February 2016 children arrived at school and had been eagerly awaiting their residential trip to Peak Venture for a long time. It was a dry and sunny day when we set off on our big adventure and the coach was noisy and brimming with excitement.

  • Gifted and Talented Dance Project

    On Wednesday 3rd February 2015, five girls from Simpson's Lane attended the G & T dance performance at CAST in Doncaster. This was a fantastic day enjoyed by all. (The girls even got their own dressing room!)
    Over the past six weeks the girls have been practicing the dance at De Lacy Academy, under the tutorship of Sam from CAST. They have learnt how to choreograph a performance as well as the key points to creating an 'effective' dance.

    De Lacy Christmas Dance Show 2015
    Miss Coopey's and Mrs. Morgan's classes attended De Lacy to participate in the dance competition 2015 on Wednesday 9th December 2015.
    They danced to: Santa Clause is Comin' to Town by Justin Bieber and Anaconda by Nicki Minaj.
    Both classes were brilliant and we even won 'The Best supported classes'!
    Lots of people were there to watch and the children behaved impeccably; they danced magnificently too!!

     All money raised will be donated to the School Partnership Trust Foundation Fund.

    Recycling bins are now in the School's Reception area.

  • Nursery and Reception open - Tuesday 15th Dec

    The boiler which feeds the Foundation Unit has been fixed so the heating is now working. Nursery and Reception classes will be open as normal tomorrow.

    Due to a broken boiler, Nursery and Reception will be closed to pupils on Monday 14th December as there is no heating in the Foundation Unit.

    Years 1 to 6 are not affected as a different boiler heats the rest of the academy.

    Walking is the most reliable, easy and healthy modes of travel, yet as a nation walking rates are in shocking decline with damaging consequences for our children’s future.

    With school pupil numbers projected to rise year on year the school run is expected to have an increasingly negative impact on congestion and our childrens's health.

    This week the children in Year 5 and 6 have had a special visit from the NSPCC.

    They found out all about the fantastic Child Line service and the support it offers them.

    They explained to the children how they could deal with their emotions and what they could do if they are feeling sad or worried.

    Thank you to all the children and parents who made such an amazing effort for the Halloween Disco, the costumes were fantastic and all the children had a great time.

  • PCSOs Came for Lunch!

    Officers Go Back To School


    Yesterday two of our community officers, PCSO Aaron Riley and Richard Shaw visited Simpson's Lane Academy.

    During this time, they held a school gate surgery where they engaged with parents, before conducting a truancy sweep of the surrounding area.

    However it wasn't until dinnertime that the fun really began! The pair joined pupils for lunch and even managed to wangle getting some seconds, before working it off, creating 'mayhem' in the school playground by hosting a large-scale ga

  • Year 6 Residential.......The Story So Far!

    The Y5/6 children (and staff!) are having  an amazing time on their residential. They've done the climbing wall, low-ropes, blindfold course, archery and so many more exciting activities! Expect some very muddy clothes!
