simp7.jpgChildren at Simpson’s Lane Academy are taught in mixed ability classes in the care of their own class teacher who has responsibility for education, welfare and discipline. The Head of Academy has the overall responsibility for these areas within the academy.

The academy follows the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for Nursery and Reception and the National Curriculum for children in Year 1 to Year 6. The National Curriculum comprises of ten subjects. Religious Education is not part of the National Curriculum but is also a core subject.

The core and foundation subjects are taught, where possible, through enhanced cross-curricular topics in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

We endeavour to foster a love for learning while at the same time developing essential life skills. ICT is at the heart of curriculum, with all children from Year 2 to Year 6 provided with their own netbook, which is used to support their learning throughout the curriculum.
